This itinerary takes you on an unforgettable journey through Sri Lanka, filled with adventure and cultural discovery. Cycle through stunning national parks, climb the iconic Sigiriya rock, visit famous historical sites, and enjoy a scenic hike in or near the Knuckles Mountain Range, with options for more accessible treks depending on your preferences. You’ll have the chance to observe elephants in the wild and in a sanctuary, relax on the pristine beaches of the southwest, and participate in sports with the locals. Explore the historic city of Galle and engage in sustainable community projects, with the opportunity to participate in seasonal nighttime turtle watching. This journey is designed to immerse you in the true essence of Sri Lanka while forging meaningful connections with local women and leaders along the way. Day 1: Negombo

Welcome to Sri Lanka. The first day starts with an afternoon arrival at the International Airport, where participants will meet our Trip Leaders and transfer to the hotel in Negombo. After check-in and refreshments, we’ll have our first Orientation session about the program. Then we’ll explore some local sights such as the Dutch fort and churches, and witness the bustling activity of fishermen bringing in their catch of the day. Overnight stay at the hotel in Negombo.

Day 2: Sigiriya / Kandy

This morning we are up early to climb the Sigiriya Rock fortress before the heat of the mid-day sun hits. This UNESCO world heritage site is an astonishing feat of engineering and construction.
In the afternoon, we embark on our journey to the Last Kingdom of Sri Lanka, Kandy. En route we visit the Cave Temple of Dambulla, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival to Kandy, we check in and we will visit the Dalada Maligawa (aka Temple of the Tooth), Sri Lanka's most important Buddhist site, and mingle with the white-clad pilgrims who come here to worship. followed by a stroll besides the 200 year old manmade Kandy Lake.

Day 3: Kandy

This morning we explore Kandy- home to a picturesque lake, old shops, a bustling market and some great restaurants. It was once the capital under the last Sri Lankan king, and the area managed to resist European control for hundreds of years, long after the coastal areas surrendered.
In the evening, we will go to watch Kandyan dance- a popular dance form native to Kandy often characterized by its vibrant costumes, elaborate headgear, rhythmic drumming, and intricate footwork.

Day 4: Nuwara Eliya / Ella

Today we head to Nuwara Eliya, known as 'Little England,' for a guided tour of a tea plantation, where students can sample and buy fresh tea. Next, we'll take the scenic train from Nuwara Eliya to Ella, passing through Sri Lanka's beautiful Hill Country.
Upon arrival in Ella, we have the option to hike the iconic Ella Rock, a 2-3 hour climb, and end with a refreshing swim in Ravana Waterfalls.

Day 5: Udawalewe Natinal Park / Galle

Today visit the Udawalawe National Park- one of the island's premier wildlife destinations famous for its population of Asian elephants as well as other wildlife such as sambar deer, wild boar, water buffalo, and various species of birds, including eagles, owls, and water birds.
Afternoon we head to the coastal region of Sri Lanka “Galle”. Upon reaching Galle, we check in to the hotel and later in the afternoon we will visit Galle fort- a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Dutch Reformed Church, and finally catch a glimpse of the Lighthouse.

Day 6: Galle

This morning we will visit the Japanese Peace Pagoda and Galle National museum to delve into Galle's rich history and cultural heritage. Second half of the day would be free to relax on the beach.

Day 7: Colombo

Today we drive to Colombo- the vibrant capital city of Sri Lanka, another option is to take an early morning train ride through a scenic route that takes you along Sri Lanka's coastline. The journey offers breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, palm trees, golden sandy beaches, and fishing villages, an unforgettable experience that immerses you in Sri Lanka's coastal charm.
On arrival, and check in, we will visit Gangaramaya Temple- Iconic Buddhist temple, known for its stunning architecture, sacred relics, moreover the unique collection of artifacts and statues within the temple complex which is not to be missed. Later we visit Independence Square- a historic landmark, which commemorates Sri Lanka's independence from British colonial rule.
