At  Tours By Her, we believe that an educational program can be much more than just a trip. It can become a cultural, authentic, and transformative experience that brings students closer to different realities through connection, listening, and shared learning. That is why we design educational programs that invite participants to discover each destination through the perspective of local women, connecting with leaders, entrepreneurs, and community advocates who help students better understand the challenges, achievements, and cultural richness of each place.

We do not see these programs as a sequence of disconnected visits without context. We conceive them as immersive experiences where students participate in talks, workshops, and collaborative projects designed to encourage deeper understanding. Throughout the journey, students explore the challenges women face, but also the cultural joys and the unique aspects of everyday life within each community. For us, this is what transforms travel into meaningful learning.

We believe in programs that leave a lasting impact beyond the classroom. Choosing these experiences not only enriches students’ educational journeys, but also supports sustainable change by creating real opportunities for women and helping expand access to education, entrepreneurship, and leadership within the communities we visit. That is why we speak about purpose-driven travel, responsible journeys with impact, and experiences that invite participants to learn, reflect, and make a difference.

Learning through travel

Our educational programs are designed so that learning also happens beyond the classroom. We want students to discover destinations and cultures through direct, immersive, and guided experiences. That is why we create journeys where cultural immersion, connection with local communities, and encounters with inspiring women are central parts of the experience.

Rather than offering a superficial approach, we promote a way of learning that emerges from the territory itself and from the people who live there. We want every student to have the opportunity to observe, ask questions, share experiences, and gain a deeper understanding of what they encounter. This combination of cultural experience, context, and human connection is the foundation of our educational programs.

Our perspective

At  Tours By Her, we design our educational programs through a female-centered, local, and transformative perspective. Our programs offer a unique opportunity to explore destinations through the eyes of local women. By interacting with leaders, entrepreneurs, and community advocates, students gain genuine insight into the experiences that shape the lives of women in different parts of the world.

We are not interested in simply showcasing destinations. We want to open conversations, inspire questions, and bring students closer to real stories and lived experiences. That is why we have created transformative programs that highlight the diverse voices of women while combining culture, community, and meaningful learning.

Real Impact

or us, educational programs should also create real impact. Each program contributes to generating opportunities for women and supports access to education, entrepreneurship, and leadership within the communities we visit. This dimension is an essential part of the way we understand responsible travel with positive impact.

This means that students do not simply discover different contexts, but also connect with projects, organizations, and communities that are creating tangible change. In this way, the journey becomes a purposeful learning experience, connected to real-life realities and to the people driving transformation within their communities.

Programmes in India

India holds a very special place within our educational programs. Through this approach, we offer experiences that combine cultural immersion, community engagement, and meaningful encounters with local women and organizations. The programs we currently offer in India are Cultural Roots of the South, Hidden Narratives of the Golden Triangle, and Golden Triangle and Magical Rajasthan.

Across all of these programs, we maintain the same foundation: bringing students closer to the diversity of the country through authentic experiences connected to local communities and empowerment initiatives. It is not simply about traveling through cities, but about gaining a deeper understanding of their contexts, their challenges, and the strength of the people who work every day to transform them.

South of India

In Cultural Roots of the South, we have developed a cultural immersion program for students in India. The journey offers students the opportunity to explore the unique environment of Mumbai, including Dharavi, where they meet and learn from women leaders and local business owners who have transformed the area into a center of innovation and industry.

Students then travel to a rural host community to live with local families and participate in activities alongside local students. This allows them to experience daily life in rural India more closely while building lasting human connections. In addition, they visit local organisations and NGOs where they can learn from community leaders carrying out inspiring work in education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment.

Hidden triangle

Hidden Narratives of the Golden Triangle offers a journey through Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur while students build meaningful connections with local women. In Delhi, the program includes a visit to Sanjay Colony, a small neighborhood where women leaders and entrepreneurs are driving innovation and social change within their community.

In Jaipur, students support Pink City Rickshaw Co., an eco-friendly initiative led by women from low-income families. The program also invites students to immerse themselves in the lives of women artisans who preserve traditional crafts and to participate in cooking workshops where they learn family recipes passed down through generations. This journey highlights the essential role women play within their communities and in advancing empowerment and social transformation.

Magical Rajasthan

Golden Triangle and Magical Rajasthan expands this experience across northern India with a journey through Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur, and the desert community of Setrawa. This program combines cultural heritage with meaningful community engagement, inviting students to immerse themselves in the diversity of India while connecting with local changemakers.

Throughout the program, students explore Sanjay Colony in Delhi, visit educational projects in Jodhpur focused on empowering women and girls, spend a night in the desert community of Setrawa learning about local tribal traditions, and connect in Jaipur with a nonprofit organization that creates employment opportunities for women from low-income households by training them as rickshaw drivers. This experience blends cultural exploration with social impact, allowing students to build meaningful connections while supporting local empowerment initiatives.

Sri Lanka alive

In Sri Lanka, one of the educational programs currently available is Waves, Wildlife and Wonders. We present it as a transformative experience in which students work alongside local women on projects that empower them and foster connections between women and girls. It is also important to highlight that this journey allows for a deeper immersion into the culture of Sri Lanka through sustainable community initiatives that support women entrepreneurs and local leaders.

The program combines this social dimension with the exploration of the island’s natural and cultural beauty. It includes connecting with local surfers in Arugam Bay, participating in hands-on workshops, cycling through national parks, climbing the iconic Sigiriya rock fortress, enjoying a scenic hike in or near the Knuckles Mountain Range, and spending time along the beaches of the southwest coast. In the program description itself, we define it as a rich and diverse experience that brings together adventure, nature, and cultural immersion.

Close-up Nepal

In Nepal, our website features the program Goddesses and Buddhist Nuns. This journey is centered on discovering the country’s culture and natural landscapes through the perspective of women, connecting students with female leaders and women’s communities. The experience includes cultural activities, inspiring encounters, wildlife safaris, and time spent living alongside Buddhist nuns, offering a unique insight into the lives and experiences of Nepali women.

Although each destination has its own focus, in Nepal we maintain the same core philosophy: an educational experience that brings together culture, nature, community, and a local female perspective. In this way, the journey becomes an opportunity to learn through shared experiences and direct contact with different ways of life.

How do we design them?

We design these programs so they can be adapted to the specific needs of each school or educational institution. On the pages for Cultural Roots of the South and Hidden Narratives of the Golden Triangle, we explain that the programs are available year-round for private bookings and can be tailored to meet each school’s requirements. We also invite schools to get in touch for pricing details and planning support.

This reflects the way we work: listening first, understanding what each group is looking for, and building an experience that aligns with their interests and educational goals. We want every program to maintain its cultural and transformative essence while also responding to the context and needs of the students who will experience it.

What these programs offer

We believe that these programs offer something that goes far beyond travel itself. They provide context, direct experience, intercultural learning, and meaningful contact with people and projects that help students see the world from a different perspective. On our general school programs page, we explain that this is more than just a trip: it is an opportunity to witness the resilience, strength, and creativity of women while empowering students to engage with the world in a meaningful way.

That is why we describe these experiences as cultural, authentic, and transformative. Cultural, because students immerse themselves in specific ways of life, traditions, and communities. Authentic, because learning emerges through real encounters with local people. And transformative, because the journey opens new questions, creates lasting connections, and leaves an impact that continues long after returning home.

Traveling with purpose

At  Tours By Her, we believe in purpose-driven travel. We do not see travel as an end in itself, but as an opportunity to learn, share experiences, and create positive impact. This is precisely what shapes our educational programs: a combination of cultural immersion, meaningful learning, and engagement with communities and projects led by women.

We also believe in responsible travel with impact. That is why we design experiences where students do not simply observe the places they visit, but engage with them in a meaningful and thoughtful way. We want every journey to help students better understand different realities and to recognize the strength of the women who lead, create, teach, and transform their communities every day.

Living learning

Our educational programs are designed for those seeking something beyond a traditional school trip. They are looking for a cultural, authentic, and transformative experience capable of bringing together learning, community, and purpose. From India to Sri Lanka and Nepal, we create journeys where students can explore, connect, and discover different realities through a local and female-centered perspective.

At  Tours By Her, we want every program to be an invitation to learn from within. To travel with greater awareness. To discover that education can also happen in a neighborhood, in a rural community, within a local organization, through a shared conversation, or while living alongside women who are transforming their surroundings. That is where travel truly becomes a transformative experience.
